WCL honoured for contribution to PM Internship Scheme

WCL has been honoured as the “Best PSU Partner” Award under the PMIS Recognition of Partner Company Awards by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. This award is in recognition of its exceptional leadership, effective execution and high-quality implementation of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) in New Delhi, on August 14.

The award was presented by Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, to Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & HR), WCL, who received the honour on behalf of WCL.

Bikram Ghosh said that as part of the third round of PMIS, WCL has offered 150 internship opportunities across key technical disciplines. He added that WCL has been playing an important role in creating opportunities for the youth living in interior coalfield areas. These regions often have limited access to training and career opportunities. Through the PMIS initiative, WCL is helping young people gain valuable skills and build a better future. Such efforts are providing them with opportunities closer to their homes and communities.

He added that the revised PMIS stipend of Rs 9,000 per month further supports a conducive learning environment for interns.

Ghosh said that this national recognition reflects WCL’s continued commitment to skill development, youth empowerment and building an industry-ready workforce. By connecting education with real-world industry experience, WCL is contributing towards a stronger, skilled and future-ready India.

WCL General Manager (HRD), Manoj Kumar Gupta, and Senior Manager (PR), Asheesh Tayal, were also present at the ceremony
