Verification of migrant workers and tourists in Chikkamagaluru: IPS Jitendra Kumar Dayama style

With Chikkamagaluru being both a migrant labour intensive and tourist-heavy district, SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama, a 2019-batch IPS officer, focuses on strengthening identification and verification of people coming from outside the district.

Recognizing that the district has a large number of homestays, resorts and estates, which employ workers and receive visitors from different places. The police initiative focuses on creating an integrated vigilance model which includes CCTV cameras along with digital tools and software or applications for hospitality service providers. Additionally “Estate people and their managers can also provide information about their migrant labourers” he added.

IPS Jitendra Kumar Dayama is building a collective, more organised verification system in a place that sees considerable movement of workers and tourists, while helping the police strengthen local vigilance and maintain updated information about people.
