India secures its first European extradition from Moldova
India's push against transnational crime achieved a major breakthrough with the successful extradition of fugitive operative Amritpal Singh, alias Amrit Dalam, from the Republic of Moldova. A vital operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, Dalam is wanted across multiple serious offenses, including murder, attempt to murder, UAPA violations, narcotics trafficking, and Arms Act charges. His handover represents the first-ever European extradition secured by the Punjab Police.
The breakthrough is the culmination of Operation Eastern Reach, an intensive six-month international manhunt led by the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC). The mission succeeded through close operational synchronization with the CBI (IPCU), the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and authorities in Moldova and Azerbaijan.
