The dialogue established consensus on establishing new sector hotlines, strengthening operational border management, and tasking expert groups to explore preliminary boundary delimitation.

However, framing this as the first positive movement since the standoff overlooks key developments in between. While diplomatic channels resolved post Doklam, bilateral ties suffered a far deeper rupture following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.
